On June 15, UAE residents saw an almost 4-hour lunar eclipse

The inhabitants of the United Arab Emirates, along with the population of most of the world, were able to see on June 15, 2011 one of the longest lunar eclipses of the century. An eclipse could be observed in most parts of the world, with the exception of North America.

The lunar eclipse began at 10.22 pm local time and ended after 3 hours and 40 minutes, at 02.02 nights. Calculations by astronomers have shown that this was one of the two longest eclipses of the century. According to scientists, all in the current century the inhabitants of the planet will be able to observe 85 lunar eclipses, and the longest of them will occur on July 27, 2018. The eclipse, which occurred on June 15, 2011, was only three minutes shorter.
