According to the Dubai Statistical Center, from January to October this year, the population of Dubai increased by 84 thousand people and reached 1.98 million people, securing the emirate the position of the most attractive place for foreigners in the UAE.
From 1.9 million people at the end of 2010, the total population of Dubai, including its indigenous people, increased to 1.92 million in the first quarter of this year. By the end of the second quarter, it reached 1.96 million people. In late September, this figure increased to 1.97 million people, and finally in October reached 1.98 million people. The number of people living in Dubai is 24% of the total population of the UAE. In total, at the end of 2010, 8.2 million people lived in the country. At the end of September, the male population of Dubai amounted to 1.5 million people, the female - 455 thousand. The Dubai Statistics Center did not, however, provide a “breakdown” by nationality. Nevertheless, it is known that at the end of 2010, a total of 168,029 citizens of the country lived in the emirate, while 84,245 of them were men and 83,784 were women. The total number of the local population of the UAE today reaches 947,997 people, which is only 11.4% of the total population of the country.
