Lolita

"So the fee of morality you

Imbued in us, a sense of beauty. "

Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

Vladimir Nabokov was sure that in human life there are only two meanings - literature and butterflies. In one of the writer's most controversial novels, Lolita butterflies flutter constantly, drawing an invisible thread between a young girl and a weightless, but endowed with special beauty, insect. As a hunter catches a butterfly in a butterfly net, so the main character caught in the snare his beautiful prey. The physiological transformation of butterflies is an excellent illustration of the age-related evolution of Lolita and her personality.

Little Prince

“You are beautiful, but empty,” the Little Prince went on, “you don’t want to die for you. Of course, a random passerby, looking at my rose, will say that she is exactly the same as you. But to me she alone is more precious than all of you. After all, this I watered her, not you, every day. She covered you, and not a glass cap. She covered her with a screen, protected from the wind ... I listened to how she complained and bragged, I listened to her even when she was silent. She is mine "

Antoine de Saint-Exupery, "The Little Prince"

The Little Prince is a book for all ages. A small and fragile boy with golden hair is endowed with so much wisdom and strength that they allowed him to become the most loving, caring and kind character of world literature. His love story for the rose is one of the most romantic ever to happen on earth. And certainly inspiring ...

Alice in Wonderland

"In no case do not imagine that you can be or appear to be other than what it seems to you, you are or can be according to their representation, so as not to become or not to be presented to others as you are in any case I would not want to appear or introduce myself ... "

Lewis Carroll, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland"

The mathematician Lewis Carroll wrote his most famous nonsense tale. The situations described in it do not belong to the category of habitual and normal. The world of surrealism is illogical and submits only to fantasy, which in childhood knows no boundaries and limits.

One of the most mysterious literary works is filled with hidden meanings that are obvious to those who are dedicated. For everyone else, it's just an exciting journey into the world of dreams.

One hundred years of solitude

"... A little later, when the carpenter took measurements for the coffin from the dead man, they saw that it was raining tiny yellow flowers outside the window. All night they threw themselves into the city, like a soundless rain, covered all the roofs, filled up the doors, strangled animals sleeping in the open "So many flowers attacked that in the morning the whole Macondo was lined with them like a dense carpet - they had to put shovels and rakes in motion to clear the way for the funeral procession."

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, "One Hundred Years of Solitude"

Yellow color constantly appears in the novel: yellow butterflies, flowers, train. In Latin American culture, he is a constant companion of death, but he was also the favorite color of Marquez himself. Two years ago, at the writer's funeral, his fans carried yellow flowers and released yellow butterflies into the sky. Such is the power of magical realism.
