The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has published data on the volume of tourist flow in the emirate, according to which the total number of guests was 523.5 thousand people from January to May of this year. Their contribution to the economy of the emirate was recorded at around 277 million dirhams (US $ 75.5 million).
The largest number of international tourists came from Russia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Italy, Sweden and the UK. Germany became the leader of the rating: approximately 172.7 thousand citizens of this country have visited the emirate since the beginning of this year. The second place was taken by regional tourists from the UAE - 114 thousand people.
In the first half of the year, the occupancy rate of both beach and city hotels in the emirate increased. At beach resorts, it amounted to 82.4%, which is 5.9% higher than in the same period last year. At the same time, the average daily rate increased by 23.6%, and revenue for an affordable number (RevPAR) - by 32.6%. City hotels showed an average occupancy rate of 73.7% (plus 6.75% over the same period last year), an increase in the average daily rate and RevPAR were 20.6% and 32.8%, respectively.
“Ras Al Khaimah’s popularity among regional and international tourists continues to grow. Our current successes inspire the emirate to develop further as a global tourist destination and should encourage new investments in the development of the hospitality sector,” said Victor Lewis, chief operating officer of the department.
