A new tourist entry control system will appear in Dubai

The Government of Dubai, together with a number of airlines, is implementing an initiative aimed at optimizing the passenger entry control system. In accordance with it, citizens whose names are on the so-called "black list" will not be allowed on flights departing to the emirate. The system will be launched by the end of this year.

Colonel Khaled Nasser Al Razuki, Assistant Director General of the Electronic Services Sector of the Directorate General of Residence and Foreign Affairs, noted that this measure will help prevent the entry of passengers who previously committed offenses in the country, or those who did not receive an entry visa.

The system will not allow a passenger to board the airport of departure if he has previously been denied entry to the United Arab Emirates. Al Razuki explained that the new database will allow employees of the Directorate to find out the names and data of travelers who plan to fly to Dubai, thanks to cooperation with airlines and travel operators who send profiles of their tourists to the department. The Directorate, in turn, will provide its partners with data on those citizens who are prohibited from entering the country. He also stated that a “smart e-gates” system has been installed at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport at present. All "electronic gates" that existed earlier will be replaced by new ones, and their total number will increase to 100 pieces. “The new“ electronic gates ”have a number of security advantages. Most importantly, they scan the passports of travelers faster,” Al Razuki explained.

Electronic smart gates include a number of technical devices that can automatically read a passenger’s passport, scan his face and retina, giving high-resolution photographs. She also checks the traveler’s name against the blacklist. The whole operation takes 12 seconds. Any passenger over 18 years of age can use it if he has an electronic or computer-readable passport, or an Emirates ID card. In the future, such "gates" will also be installed in the UAE marine passenger terminals.
