Dubai will have a new metro line by 2020

ROAD AND TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVES (RTA) SHARED THE DETAILS OF THE CONSTRUCTION PLAN OF THE ADDITIONAL METRO DUBAI LINE.

As part of the approved Route 2020 project, a new 15-kilometer metro line will be laid from Nakheel Harbor and Tower Station to the World Expo 2020 venue.

The new metro line is expected to pass along D591 Street, covering the areas of The Gardens, Discovery Gardens and Furjan, and will be launched as early as 2019. The map shows that in this part of the route, the opening of three stations is provided. At the intersection of the subway with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Highway (SMBZ Road), two underground stations will be built, one of which will be located south of the Al Houth roundabout. Currently, no construction work is underway here, so it is not known which residential areas will be served by the subway.

RTA representatives previously stated that the Jumeirah Golf Estate area is also included in the Route 2020 project, however, on the map, the area is located east of the proposed route line. Green Community Village will have one metro station near Green Community East Park. Two metro stations should be located in the Investment Park area, but the construction of one of them has not yet been fully approved, so now there are only 6 approved stations in the plan.

A project to further expand the new line towards Dubai World Central, where the largest operating Al Maktoum International Airport is located, is also under consideration. Existing Dubai Metro lines will also be expanded. The green line will be extended towards the historical part of Dubai, while additional stations of the red metro line will serve areas with new resorts and hotels, the construction of which will be completed by 2020.
