Arab Emirates Denies Rumors of Explosions at Fujairah Port

Fujairah port officials in the UAE have denied rumors of explosions.

The government of the emirate of Fujairah has denied reports by some media that a series of explosions thundered in the oil port of the emirate.

The reports, which were distributed on social networks and published by some news agencies, claimed that at dawn on May 12, 2019, several explosions thundered in the waters of the port of Fujairah, as a result of which 7 to 10 oil tankers standing in the port caught fire.

Located on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates, Fujairah is the only multidisciplinary port outside the Strait of Hormuz that provides direct access to the country to the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean.

A number of emirate media believe that the information feed about the explosions in the largest oil port in the region has Iranian roots - Iran is interested in confusion in the oil markets, especially against the backdrop of statements about the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz and sanctions on the export of Iranian oil.
