Dubai's top 10 schools named

Four new schools in Dubai have earned outstanding status.

On April 10, 2019, Dubai published a performance rating of 176 private emirate schools. A total of 17 schools were given the status of “outstanding”, including four new institutions.

It looks like the top ten institutions:

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Jumeirah college
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School
  • Dubai college
  • GEMS Jumeirah Primary School
  • GEMS Dubai American Academy
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Dubai English Speaking private college affiliate
  • Repton school

28 schools were rated as “very good,” 74 as “good,” 52 as “acceptable,” and five schools as “weak.” The latter included Pakistan Educational Academy, Grammar School, Emirates English Speaking School, The Philippine School, Gulf Model School.

Jumeirah English Speaking School, Horizons English School, Dubai English Speaking School and Kings School Al Barsha were able to receive the status of "outstanding".

This year, school audit results were announced a month earlier than usual to give parents more time to choose their school, the education regulator said.

Since this year, the rating of each school has been a determining factor that allows the institution to increase fees. Private school operators will be allowed to raise fees by a maximum of 4.14% this year. The right to increase fees will be given to institutions that have improved or maintained their rating.

Of the 176 private schools that the Bureau inspected by the Dubai School Inspectorate, five institutions moved from being “good” to “very good,” six from “acceptable” to “good,” and three more from “weak” to “acceptable.” These schools will be able to increase tuition fees.
