The Russians supported tourist demand in Dubai in 2018.
Dubai, UAE. Russia has become one of the key tourism markets for Dubai, showing a significant increase in demand in 2018. According to the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of the Emirate, last year 678 thousand Russians visited Dubai, which is 28% more than in 2017.
It should be noted that we are talking only about the emirate of Dubai, and not about the United Arab Emirates as a whole. In general, Dubai in 2018 received 15.92 million tourists and remained faithful to the strategy to increase the tourist flow to 20 million tourists by 2020.
It must be added that the tourist flow to Dubai in the past year compared to 2017 increased by only 0.8%. In particular, the volume of tourists from the Gulf countries, mainly Oman and Qatar, as well as from Great Britain and India, fell. Meanwhile, along with the Russians, the Chinese showed a growth in demand - by 12%, to 857 thousand.
