The first biometric ATMs in the Middle East will appear in the Emirates

Emirates will be the first country in the Middle East, where biometric ATMs will appear, which will begin to issue cash at the end of this year.
As it became known to ArabianBusiness.com, one of the largest emirate banks, the name of which was not disclosed, ordered the Dubai-based Avanza company to develop software for biometric ATMs, the arrival of which is expected in the UAE in October.
The main difference between traditional and biometric ATMs is that the latter use fingerprint identification to access the account, not a bank card and the PIN code attached to it, Junaid Khan, CEO of Avanza, told reporters.
Biometric ATM scanners use radio frequency technology (RF), which, unlike optical scanning, can “read” up to six layers of the skin, which will allow you to identify the fingerprint of even a damaged finger. If the scan does not give access to the account for any reason, the client will have the opportunity to use the traditional PIN code.
"We are confident that biometric ATMs will be enjoyed by both banks and their customers in the Emirates. The widespread adoption of new machines is just a matter of time," said Junaid Khan in an interview.
Biometric ATMs are already in use in India and Pakistan, as well as in Colombia and parts of Japan.
