78% of UAE residents prefer to eat out twice a week

According to a recent social survey conducted by Table Talk, 78% of residents of the United Arab Emirates eat out, on average, twice a week, which is a good prerequisite for the development of the restaurant sector.

592 respondents from Abu Dhabi and Dubai took part in the Table Talk social survey, while 75% said they eat out twice a week during social events or with family, 3% eat out every day .

“Residents of Abu Dhabi and Dubai are consumers of 80% of the food service compared to other emirates,” said Maggie Moore, Event Director, Gulf a la Carte. “The results of the Table Talk survey have shown that eating out is becoming an everyday part of our lives, it’s convenient, affordable and provides an opportunity to spend quality time with friends. Going out for lunch or dinner with someone is no longer something special, and not used now for any special events. "

According to Ms. Moore, in the UAE today there are approximately 11 thousand independent restaurants and cafes. Each year this number will increase by approximately 500 points. In addition, in the next few years, 216 hotels will be built in the UAE, which will add another 650-700 restaurants and cafes to the catering sector.

Note that 52% of women and 48% of men took part in the survey. The age of 45.6% of respondents was from 22 to 34 years old. The income category of the respondents ranged from 5 to 25 thousand dirhams (US $ 1,366-6,830). “Regardless of the income received, people in the UAE still prefer to eat out on a regular basis,” said Ms. Moore. - "For eating out, you can choose the most diverse catering establishments, from fast food cafes to luxury restaurants."
